⚠️ Short date (06/11/25)

It is important to note that the expiry date on yerba mate does not mean that the product has gone bad, but rather guarantees how long it will maintain its optimal flavour and aroma.
If the package has been stored properly (sealed, in a cool, dry place), the yerba can be consumed after that date.

How can you tell if the yerba is still good?

Colour: it should remain green; if it is very dull, brown or has strange spots, it should not be used.

Aroma: fresh and herbal. If it smells rancid, damp or mouldy, discard it.

Texture: the yerba should be dry and loose, without lumps or a damp feeling.

Presence of insects or foreign dust: if present, do not consume.

As long as it retains its colour, fresh aroma and dryness, yerba mate can be enjoyed even after its expiry date.

A refined version of the traditional Playadito, this "despalada" contains less than 5% stick, concentrating its flavour in the high quality leaves and powder.
A good option for beginners with some experience, as it offers more concentrated flavours without the impact of the stick, ideal for those who want to move on from the traditional.

How to prepare a good mate?

How to prepare a good mate?

How to prepare a good mate?

1 - Fill the calabaza to ¾ of its capacity with the yerba.
Or a little less if it's a very powdery yerba.
(ex: Baldo, Canarias …)
Leave it slightly inclined to form a ‘mountain’.

2 - Cover the opening of the mate with your hand, shake it gently and turn it upside down.

This allows the components to be mixed and reduces the dust that reaches the straw.

3 - Return the mate to its inclined position.

Pour a little warm (not boiling) water into the hole to moisten the base. Wait 1 minute.

4 - Insert the straw into the wet area.

Do this carefully and without moving it afterwards, so that it doesn't end up obstructed.

5 - Pour in hot water (70-80°C)

Do not use boiling water (it burns the yerba). Pour the water over the wet area.

6 - Enjoy!

The first mate is strong, the subsequent ones more balanced. Reuse until the yerba is “washed”.

EXTRA TIP: If you're a beginner, use soft yerbas such as Playadito, Mañanita or Unión Suave.

How to prepare a good tereré?

How to prepare a good tereré?

1 - Choose your yerba mate

Use a yerba for tereré or ground into large pieces. You can also use a traditional yerba with herbs or citrus fruit.

2 - Preparing the drink

In a jug or thermos, mix cold water (or natural juice, preferably lemon or orange). You can also add herbs such as mint, lemon verbena or ginger.

3 - Fill the calabaza or guampa halfway with yerba.

Do not fill it completely to leave room for ice cubes and liquid.

4 - Insert the straw

Do this carefully and without moving it afterwards, so that it doesn't end up obstructed.

5 - Add ice cubes to the mate

This keeps the yerba fresh and enhances the flavour of each mate.

6 - Pour in the liquid and share!

Pour the cold drink slowly and enjoy. Tereré is ideal for hot days, outdoors or after training.

EXTRA TIP: Use water with fruit slices or flavoured ice cubes for a special touch.
